Sometimes, being "That Girl" comes with the self-reflective thought of are my efforts enough, is this helping me towards my goal, or am I the only one benefiting from this dream. Though crucial to the developmental plan, these thoughts can sometimes be detrimental if accompanied by impatience and urgency to get to the final destination. We look at where we are and all the things we haven't accomplished or were close to achieving and get discouraged.

"You be fearless everyday and when you don’t feel like it, just pretend girl. That's it. Really and truly. Don't let them see you sweat." ----Rihanna

Often as a young woman, specifically a young black woman, it is easy to become overwhelmed and discouraged. Social media has conditioned us to compare our journey to others by living to societal standards. We don't see personal transparency; we don't get to see everyone's bad days or the days when they don't feel enough. Social media has taken away the human personification of our emotions, and we see it as them "looking for attention."

We often hear the term mind over matter, which can be defined as the use of willpower to overcome any physical situation. I usually think to myself this saying while completing a new intense workout to assist in me not giving up, and once it's finished, I feel very empowered. Relating biblically, in Matthew 17:20 (NLT), Jesus says to his disciples to have even the smallest amount of faith, and anything would be possible.

"I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible." - Matt. 17:20 (NLT)

Remaining faithful and grateful for the accomplishments thus far, no matter how big or small will make the end reward even better deserved and self-filling. Sometimes we have to revisit plans to make tiny edits to reap significant endeavors.

Remember not to stress about the things you cannot control but determine those you can and take action.
