JAI MICAH July 11, 2022 (Revised May 3, 2024)
I was granted the fortune to begin my college journey B.C.- before COVID 19. Fall 2019 was an unmatched semester; there are enough stories to tell for a whole year. I honestly do not know where or who I'd be if shutdowns didn't happen for Spring 2020 because my frontal lobe wasn't developed at all, and my actions showed.
Do I have any regrets? Absolutely NOT! My non-developed frontal lobe made my first year the IT girl of my college semesters. Do I wish I knew how to actually handle certain situations? Yes, because there was no actual rulebook on how to go about my experience. That's the beauty of growth and change, you can huddle and come back with a new tactic to make the pass.
So here I am, sharing some things I think are essential as I enter my senior year!
It's Okay to Change your Major
I started college as a nursing major. I had doubts when the pandemic began because I saw how healthcare workers were exhausted, and I knew I did not hold the mental stability to experience that much grief and still be on the clock.
I slowly changed by adding a minor in sociology, then my major to Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and Advertising--- something more my personality speed. I was scared, though, because my parents had very high hopes of me becoming a nurse, so I didn't tell them until WEEKS later. They saw my success and how happy my new courses make me, and they've been very supportive. The rest of my family will have to find out when I graduate or when/if they read this post.

Freshman 15-20 is REAL!!
Before I completed this posting, I talked with one of my friends, and she pointed out how fast time went. So my last, final tip would be to cherish every single memory. You'll only be this young once because before you know it, you'll be applying for graduation.
I also suggest writing a letter to your graduating self to see how much you've grown in the past four years.
I wish you all the luck and send you many prayers! You got this!
