Since about 5th grade, I've always kept a journal to reflect on my days. I have one that reflects majority of my middle school and high school years. I often go back and re-read them to simply see how far I've come.
Just three weeks before my 22nd birthday, I decided to go on a social media fast. I wanted to use that time to fully engage in my present. I created 21 writing prompts, some of full self reflection and others for entertainment. As you may suspect, I recently decided to re-read my writing samples and came to the conclusion that I'd like to redo them, but I'd like to share them with you as well. So beginning Sept. 1, 2023, I'd like for us to join together and become better versions of ourselves.
What are you thankful for? What are a few 'small' things that make you happy?
What are 1-3 ways you'd like to grow in the next year? How?
What do you love about yourself?
What is the best thing that's happened to you today/this week?
Something you're proud of.
4--5 things to do less and more often.
In what ways do you lie to yourself?
Try a new recipe or meal. How did you like it?
What do you preach but don't practice?
Something you feel strongly about.
Something you're excited for.
12 places you'd like to visit.
10 ways God has seen you lately.
Write a letter to yourself 5 years ago.
Write a letter to yourself 5 years from now.
Favorite Bible scripture and why.
Write a movie/music/tv-show/food review.
What has God saved you from?
What are your goals? What are you doing to accomplish them?
If the world could see you through your favorite person's eyes, how would they view you?
In what ways have you grown in the past year?
I hope that by the end of the three weeks, we are able to acknowledge our growth and engage in our present day more. You can stay up to date with our challenge on our Instagram @thejmicahdiaries, as I will post daily reminders and story conversations. I would love to hear your feedback on the challenge!
